Katie fouse
Katie Fouse has been a teacher at DTE for 35years. She is primarily a violist with a Bachelors degree in Viola Performance from DU but has a Masters degree in Suzuki Violin Pedagogy from DU as well. Katie has also taken a number of extra Suzuki Pedagogy classes from teachers including James Maurer, Jacqueline Maurer, John Kendall, William Starr, William Preucil, and Elizabeth Stuen-Walker among others. She has also studied privately with James Maurer, Basil Vendryes and Lee Yeingst being the most recent teachers.
Some of Katie’s private/ DTE students have gone on to colleges such as Eastman School of Music, Juilliard School of Music, Cleveland Institute of Music, the London Royal Academy of Music, USC Thornton School of Music and have become professional musicians and teachers around the country. She is equally proud of those students who continue to play for an avocation or love going to concerts! Katie has played professionally in many groups in Colorado including the Denver Chamber Orchestra, Colorado Symphony, Colorado Springs Philharmonic and Mercury Ensemble, numerous free lance, church and chamber groups.
Also a person with many hobbies she loves to go bird watching, hiking and river floating with her fly fishing husband Mark Denekas. Other hobbies include needlework, cooking, reading, and gardening.
