about us
Denver Talent Education (DTE) was founded in 1980 by James and Jacqueline Maurer at the Lamont School of Music of the University of Denver. The cello program was added by Carol Tarr in 1981. DTE is a total program of private and group Suzuki instruction for violin, viola, and cello students. Our full-time teachers have each received a Master of Music Degree in performance/pedagogy and have completed their Suzuki training. Each student studies privately with one of our teachers on a weekly basis throughout the whole year and then participates in an instrument specific repertoire class and a music development class such as note-reading, orchestra, or chamber ensemble bi-weekly through the school year. Parents have the opportunity to participate in parent talks throughout the year where teachers offer ideas for inspiring students and provide a space to connect with other parents. Our goal is to enrich the lives of our students so that they can appreciate and play music all of their lives.
